The Heart Behind Bunker Squirrel Magazine
Purpose:
The 'Bunker' page states that our purpose is "to provide authors with an outlet for their creativity." You may wonder to what end, for what purpose, or perhaps what we get out of it. We are here because two years prior we started prompts on X (then called Twitter). It blossomed into inspiration for books and anthologies, short stories, and many other projects. The idea was that when you get stuck on your WIP, sometimes you need to write something else.
Two years later, we are here to provide people with a place for those little ideas in the back of their minds, distracting them from their main WIP. We call them squirrels. You send your squirrel to the bunker, and you can focus. It has the added benefit of giving the writer a publishing credit and the readers a great story.

Vision:
In the original posts, the 'Creativity Stir,' one of the core values was community. We put effort into bringing authors together and supporting one another. Negativity was not tolerated, though constructive criticism (emphasis on constructive) was always welcome.
We are so pleased that this philosophy has translated over to the magazine. When we post an author's work, other authors comment and share. People aren't self-serving; they genuinely care about the other authors in the magazine and read their stories. When we build each other up and create community, we create a place where we can become better authors. Here, we will succeed and fail, but it is now among friends.

What Now:
We are always looking to the future. What's next?
- We are looking for agents to partner with us. We have some exciting things planned. Most of our agent partners will only need to read a few submissions to help us execute.
- We are looking for podcast hosts and other people who can help spread the word about the Bunker Squirrel Magazine, the print edition in April, and our fantastic authors who write for us.
- We would also welcome your input if you feel you can help in a way we have not envisioned.
